I am a BACP registered psychotherapist providing individual counselling and psychotherapy for adults. I offer shorter-term solution focused work and longer-term in-depth psychotherapy.
Everyone struggles at times and sometimes it is difficult to know what to do. You can end up feeling a bit lost and alone, unsure of where to turn or who to talk to. I offer a gentle, safe and confidential space in which you can be yourself and work through your challenges.
You may be in the midst of a stressful life event; a bereavement, a break-up or change of circumstance. Or perhaps you are feeling overwhelmed: you find yourself constantly worrying or feeling sad. Finding a safe and supportive space in which to work through these feelings can be immensely healing. And it is often from the pain and the struggles that the greatest opportunities for growth and change emerge.
My role is to support you through your challenges, and being able to explore your experiences with a therapist can help provide the clarity and perspective you need. I want you to feel comfortable being who you are and to have the confidence to embrace your life. So often you cannot change the things in your past, or what is happening to you right now. However, you may be able to relate differently to these experiences and you can make positive decisions about your future.
I am an integrative therapist which means I draw on a range of techniques from my training and experience. I work relationally and my approach is influenced mainly by Gestalt, Transactional Analysis, mindfulness-based and person-centred therapies.
I trained at the Northern Guild for Psychotherapy and Counselling. I have experience working with a wide variety of clients presenting with issues ranging from stress, anxiety, depression and loss, to self-exploration and personal growth. Before moving into private practice I provided counselling and psychotherapy in a GP surgery and at a charity which supports people in recovery from a range of addictions.
